It’s a beautiful, spring-like day here in New York City, so this morning I took a stroll through the Union Square Greenmarket for some of the ingredients I need for tonight’s dinner. I’m making the chicken potpie recipe that’s in the March issue of Country Living. It’s made in a cast iron skillet, and I love any excuse to use mine. At the market, I picked up carrots, sweet potatoes, which I will probably mash and serve as a side, and beets. Beets are such a cleansing vegetable and I could use a little bit of that right about now. While I had two amazing dinners this weekend— one at Bobo, where my Pilates friend Dara is the sous chef, and one at the recently relocated Mexican cantina, Hecho en Dumbo—I also partook in quite a few delicious cocktails. So hence, the need for some detox. I’ll post pictures of the potpie when I make it later tonight.
