Opening mail is much more fun when it comes in a nicely wrapped package, isn’t it? Especially when the majority of mail is usually bills or catalogs. I thought about packaging a lot when I decided to start selling my handknit accessories. I didn’t want to spend a ton on packaging, because after the initial thrill, it inevitably goes in the trash, but I also believe that the wrapping an item comes in says a lot about your brand. Brown is one of my favorite colors (alas, my bridesmaids’ wore it for my wedding) so I settled on chocolate brown tissue paper from a fantastic paper store in NYC, Paper Presentation, fastened with gold initial stickers, also from Paper Presentation. I use my business cards as tags for MBM items, and in keeping with the brown scheme, I chose these cute polka dot cards from American Stationery. A simple, inexpensive upgrade that was well worth the effort.
